The Summer Reading Club begins June 20 and runs until August 9.
We're so pleased to announce that we will be holding an Early Literacy Program over the summer! This is a Fairfield first and a great opportunity for our youngest library friends to participate in our Summer Reading Club. The library has paper logs containing simple literacy based tasks for children from six months to age three. Mark each completed task and, when the log is full, bring it back to the library to claim your prize!
Participants in the Summer Reading Club are encouraged to log their reading in the following ways:
Students entering Kindergarten to grade three will be recording their reading using the same paper logs as last year. Color one picture for every fifteen minutes spent reading. When all of the pictures are colored, bring the logs back to the library and claim a prize!
Students entering grades four and up will be recording their reading online. We promise this is not as complicated as it sounds! All you need to do is go to our Summer Reading Homepage (a link to this can also be found on our website) and register for an account. If you have logged your reading online before you can use that same login information again this year (and next year and the year after that!).
Select "Add/View Log" and write a few sentences about what you've read. Record every day that you spend at least twenty minutes reading. Ten days of reading earns a prize, just print out your logs and bring them to the library with you!
Summer Events at the Library
If you hate both reading and prizes, we will be having a slew of engaging programs at the library this summer that we're sure you'll love. Each link below contains a list of events separated by age. You do not have to participate in the Summer Reading Club to attend any of these events, but you do have to register. Just call or stop by to get your name on the list!
If you have any problems, feel free to stop by the library for assistance. We're here to help.
